Getting Started

  • Downloadthe file archives linked above. Read through the assignment instructions and explore the sample files and resources.

  • Brainstorm. Try to come up with an engaging idea for this project before you turn on the computer. Consider sketching or outlining potential ideas to help you zero-in on the one that seems the most engaging.

  • Step-by-step suggestionsfor planning and building this file are included in the assignment instructions!

Project Requirements

  • File specs:900 x 600 pixels. 5-10 second animation.

  • One pixel element created in Photoshop.

  • At least two vector elements from your final Illustrator project.

  • A layer containing type.

  • A layer containing sound.

  • No fewer than 4 separate tweens [motion, shape]

Question 1
(i) In the software architecture, a command is the request that is used to perform an action that changes the state of system. For example: “PlaceOrder” in an e-commerce application. An event represents something that has occu
ed in the system like “OrderPlaced,” that may trigger other actions. A query retrieves information without modifying the system. For example: “GetOrderDetails.” Commands are used for writing actions, events communicate changes and fetch data.
(ii) The application layer can help in managing user interactions and develop application workflows by coordinating between services and infrastructure. The domain layer is used for core business logic and rules. The application service operates at the application layer to manage workflows and handle requests without implementation of business rules directly. The domain service at the domain layer contains business-specific logic that does not fit in an entity like in complex calculations.
(iii) In case of integrating different bounded contexts in domain-driven design, common approaches include using shared kernel, customer-supplier, conformist and antico
uption layer patterns. The shared kernel shares specific models across contexts. Customer-supplier context defines clear dependencies. The conformist context follows the upstream model and the antico
uption layer protects the domain from external models that translate data and behaviours.
Question 2
Choreography is the service that reacts to events on its own and this do not require central controller. For example, in an e-commerce system, when an order is placed, the order service might trigger events that other services listen to, like payment and inventory that can help in handling each parts independently. It is the approach that is flexible and helps to reduce dependency on central controller, but it can get complicated if too many services are included.
Orchestration uses the central controller that is orchestrator for coordinating with all interactions. For example: In case of e-commerce, an orchestrator would handle the order process and this will be directing each service like payment and inventory to the next process. Orchestration will provide clearer control over the flow but this can create dependency on orchestrator. This will be making the system less flexible if changes are required.
Question 3
The stream-table duality in Apache Kafka refers to the idea that data can be seen as both stream of events and as a table. The stream is the sequence of...
